Module 7.6 Road safety




In this challenge you will need to show you understand basic road safety for:

  • A Pedestrian
  • A Learner driver

  1. Play the driving Challenge game (you will need headphones)

     2. Have a look around the resources on the website

     3. In a small group or pair you need to plan a two minute presentation that could be used in assembly about how a pedestrian and learner driver can stay safe on the road.

You must look at your targets for presentation and keep them in mind when preparing your work.

You have 3 lessons to complete this task.

Learning Outside the Classroom


Asdan Certificate in Personal Effectiveness

 Students in year 9 are working towards achieving the ASDAN award for a Certificate in Personal Effectiveness. Some students will achieve this at level two which is equivalent to a GCSE B grade.

One of the modules asks students to think about their own beliefs and values. In recent weeks students have worked as part of a group to raise money for a charity of their choice. They have spent time researching their charity and thinking of fundraising ideas. On Wednesday they held a small event in the hall and managed to raise a total of £60 in just half an hour! The money will be donated to their chosen charities; SSNAP, Comic relief, OXFAM and Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital.
 
Sudents also visited the Oxford Jewish Synagogue to learn about the beliefs and values of members of the Jewish community. They were warmly welcomed by Sarah Montagu and spent the afternoon developing their understanding of different aspects Judaism.

Welcome to Gosford Hill ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness.


The Certificate of Personal Effectiveness is a nationally recognised qualification outcome of the ASDAN programmes. The qualifications offer imaginative ways of accrediting young people's activities. They promote, and allow centres to record, a wide range of personal qualities, abilities and achievements of young people, as well as introducing them to new activities and challenges.

Who is it for?

  • Students in Years 9, 10 and 11, either within the whole school PSHE programme or within the option system
  • "High effort" students, or those described as Gifted and Talented in Key Stage 3 Students in Post-16 education, embarking on programmes at Levels 1 and 2 Structure

The CoPE Student Book comprises 12 modules, each of which is divided into three sections. Each section should take 10 hours, which is worth one credit. Students will need 12 credits to gain the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness.

For CoPE Level 1, challenges can come from Section A, B or C; for CoPE Level 2, at least six of the credits must be chosen from the longer challenges of Sections B and C.

By building a Portfolio of Evidence as they complete various challenges, students must demonstrate competence at Level 1 or 2 in the following skills: Introduction to Working with Others, Introduction to Improving own Learning and Performance, Introduction to Problem Solving, Planning and Carrying out a Piece of Research, Communication through Discussion and Planning and Giving an Oral Presentation.
